Data Display of Me
For this little activity we all had to create a Google Sheets document to create charts that display our interests, hobbies and personality. People included things about their ethnicity, interests, hobbies, personality traits, talents, and memorable moments in their life that has changed them. I created a pie chart that included my hobbies, characteristics, and interests and put how much each thing meant to me out of 100. My data display chart had six components that make me who I am. I would make some changes however so that others will get know me better just by looking at the chart.
During this activity, we had to make fake Instagram accounts. No we didn't catfish someone on the real Instagram. We made one on a Google drawing. The template was made so that it looked like a real Instagram. We had to put pictures that we "posted", a profile picture and something to go in our "bio" to make it look real. After we finished, we gave our Instagram pages to others for them to evaluate. They made inferences based on what we put on our account to figure out what we were like or our personality. We put things about sports, hobbies, food, memes, funny quotes, and much, much more.
How To Lie With Statistics
In computer science we learned about the different ways companies use certain statistics to lie to people to make them believe what they say. They would truncate data, interview small groups of people, and omitting information. He learned these things so that we can create our own statistics and lie with data too. We did this by using a fake topic that out teacher gave us to convince him to do something by using statistics. We made graphs to display our results and show what we did. I got the topic of convincing my teacher to let students eat Hot Cheetos/Takis in class. I made two graphs on a spreadsheet but omitted data so no one will know how many people I interviewed.
Sheets Formula Deliverable
For this assignment we were supposed to create a Google Sheet and create something like a receipt or travel budget list and using basic Google Sheets form skills like adding or merging cells. We were given a list of things we had to incorporate into the Sheet. We had to know how to create formulas throughout the entire document to add cells, subtract cells, multiply cells, etc. I created a grocery store receipt. You can click on certain cells and see what formulas I used in my document.
Ted Talk Stats
For this assignment we used the the topic we chose to do in English for our TEDtalk. We had to learn how to lie with statistics and do research or create our own surveys or interviews so that we can make a graph or chart showing the results. I made two different charts showing my results from my survey about sleep. I have a bar graph and pie chart. You can check them out here!
